Wood pole training includes training between as well as on top of the poles.
Images of Kung Fu warriors training with various types of wooden posts maybe something familiar to dedicated practitioners of the Chinese Martial Arts, but outside of Wing Chun’s wooden dummy, this equipment is rarely practiced in the West. A wooden post can be of various sizes and dimensions, often consisting of a telephone pole sized log sunk into the ground. Depending on the lineage of practice, there can be numerous methodologies of usage incorporating footwork and body conditioning. In the lineage of Shaolin Temple Kung Fu, the Wooden Post is called a Mù Rén Zhuāng (木人桩) which literally translates to Wooden Man Post and is often arranged in the plum blossom formation.
